IPR Protection Regulations Adopted in Two Years
Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium held a discussion on IPR yesterday, the first of its kind since the symposium came into being. IPR experts from Beijing and Hong Kong shared opinions on how to strengthen patent protection through law administering.

At the discussion held under the motto “Protect intellectual property rights, foster economic relationship between Beijing and Hong Kong”, the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Industrial Association Mr Sun Qilie said, the continuous perfection of the IPR legal system will help trigger expected CEPA results. He also said, “Following CEPA implementation, many Hong Kong companies are planning to invest in the continent to boost their current brands and start on new products. If Mainland China succeeds in securing IPR-protected business environment, Hong Kong companies will be encouraged to start their businesses in the short term. Cooperation between mainland China and Hong Kong on this issue is of major importance.” On the other side, the Head of Beijing Intellectual Property Office Mr Liu Dongwei disclosed, Beijing will adopt regional IPR protection regulations within the next two years, the existing state regulations will be rewritten in a more detailed manner to better protect IPR, and foreign and domestic enterprises will be treated equally, disavowing of regional protectionism.
